Child and Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program

Your loved one’s mental health is important and getting mental health treatment for children and adolescents is important, too.

At Laurel Ridge Treatment Center in San Antonio, Texas, our outpatient programs for kids and teens include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) that is designed to meet their specific and unique needs.

Formative Years Program

Formative Years is a day treatment program designed to empower young people, ages 5-17, struggling with emotional and behavioral challenges.

Our partial hospitalization program (PHP) at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center allows your child to return home in the evenings to practice the skills they have learned during the day. The average length of stay for the program is 10 to 15 days.

During the school year, patients attend our University of Texas-affiliated charter school (UT Charter School). While attending the UT charter school, the patient will be assessed to identify any potential barriers to school success.

Upon discharge, the patient will receive a “school success plan” that they can provide to their primary school to assist them in implementing positive interventions that will allow them to become successful for the school year.

Our Treatment Modalities

We are a trauma-focused facility, utilizing both Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI) techniques to build a supportive and structured environment.

Our treatment approach also includes Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for communication issues and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Reality Therapy, both for focusing on the future and what can be solved now.

Through the use of these interventions, we work to reduce symptoms of adjustment, and concentrate on the underlying concerns to help resolve them. All interventions are evidenced-based, and have been used extensively, and with positive results, for both children and adolescents.

Our Treatment Team

Our dedicated team of licensed professionals seeks to improve the effects of the youth’s behaviors, and establish patterns of choices to encourage long-term stability. Assessing and meeting the needs for each child through targeted interventions, the psychiatrist, licensed clinician, registered nurse, recreational therapist, certified teaching staff and trained mental health technician work together with the child’s family to address and reduce the ongoing issues at home and/or school.
