Promoting the recovery of patients with mood disorders by providing the highest standard of care through application of science to the art of healing.
Laurel Ridge’s Advanced Mood Disorder Program offers an environment for patients with mood disorders such as major depression and bipolar disorder, access to a level of advanced, integrated and specialized care not currently available anywhere else in the South Texas region. Laurel Ridge’s Mood Disorder Program is led by a multi-disciplinary team with the primary goal of helping patients and their families understand the nature of the illness and then providing proven treatment strategies that can lead to useful and productive lives.
The program also focuses on adult suicide prevention and is designed to reduce the risk of suicide by addressing psychiatric illnesses associated with increased risk of suicidal behaviors – especially mood disorders, addictions and psychological traumas. After a comprehensive psychiatric, addiction and suicide assessment, patients are assigned to the Suicide Prevention program under the supervision of an attending psychiatrist. The total treatment team also includes a licensed clinician specializing in cognitive-behavioral therapy and a licensed clinical social worker specializing in trauma.
Laurel Ridge’s advanced mood disorder service mission is to advance the understanding and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders with special emphasis on treatment-resistant depression, bipolar disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), by supporting high-quality clinical care and the application of modern science to the art of patient care. The program seeks to be the leading mood and anxiety disorders intervention center in the region while offering patients access to current therapeutic modalities.
