Adolescent Residential Treatment Program

The Adolescent Residential Treatment Program at Laurel Ridge Treatment Center is specifically designed for adolescents, ages 13 – 17, who require a longer inpatient setting. The treatment program uses interdisciplinary, evidence-based and age appropriate therapeutic approaches that meet the physical, psychological, social, family and educational needs of adolescents. Individualized treatment goals assist the adolescent in achieving the greatest mental health improvements and allow the adolescent to return to normal activities in their home, school and community.

Treatment is designed for adolescents who have:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Attention-deficit disorder
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Dissociative disorders
  • Major depressive disorders
  • Oppositional defiant disorder
  • Phobic disorders
  • Psychosis disorders
  • Secondary substance abuse problems
  • Separation disorders
  • Trauma-related issues

Individual and group therapies focus on:

  • Anger and mood management skills

  • Substance use prevention and treatment

Laurel Ridge also provides discharge planning and aftercare management to ease and encourage the transition back into the home, school and community.

Education

The University of Texas-University Charter School at Laurel Ridge provides a fully-accredited educational program for children and adolescents in grades K-12. Students attend class for six hours each day and follow a traditional school calendar with summer school. The school assist with credit recovery as well as standard testing required by the TEA.  Highly qualified, state-certified teachers provide core instruction to small class sizes.

 

Family Involvement

Family and caregiver involvement is an integral component of the Adolescent Residential Treatment Program. The Laurel Ridge staff offers family therapy and aftercare management to encourage families to forward gains made during treatment to the home environment. Through the skills learned at Laurel Ridge, adolescents have the foundation for continued growth outside of our facility.
